Leaf and Joanie Zwerling

Pastor Leaf and Joanie know firsthand the power of God’s love to forgive, redeem, and transform.  Both encountered the reality of God’s love through Jesus Christ and first received Him as Savior as young adults.  It was God’s touch which brought them out of a history of darkness and brokenness, and led them to a special call to lead others to His light.  Pastor Leaf served 17 years on staff at The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California.  Eight of those years he served on the Pastoral Staff where his responsibilities included: Junior High, Young Adults, Athletics, and Church Ministries.  Joanie served with Leaf as a member of the Pastoral team, and also worked as an editor for Jack Hayford Ministries.  Leaf and Joanie were installed as the senior pastors at Northbound in August of 2007.  Their passion and prayer for our church is:

1. That every person would encounter God’s love.
2. That every person would grow in their faith.
3. That every person would discover their gifts and God’s purpose for their lives.
4. That the church would be known as a place of love, unity, and service.
5. That reaching the community would be a priority.
6. That Jesus Christ would be glorified!

Children: Isaac, Ian, Luke, and adopting a girl in China (Fall 2008)

Hobbies: Running, Reading, Basketball, Golf, and Sudoku (Leaf likes this one)
